Today is Labour Day, which means it’s the last day of summer as well as the closing day for the Canadian National Exhibition. I was standing in line waiting to order my Tiny Tom donuts when an unfamiliar but catchy dance tune caught my ear. I turned toward the loudspeaker and I spotted two people dancing. I was entertained because they were dancing in unison to some choreographed moves. However, I was shocked when other people walking past them suddenly stopped and performed the same moves! A good-looking young man with a faux-hawk in the lineup took notice as well, and started telling his friend about this latest dance craze. He said it started with a viral music video that was so hideous that you couldn’t help but watch it and everybody goes crazy when they hear this song in the clubs. I didn’t understand the lyrics of the song other than “Hey, sexy lady” so I assumed that it was a Euro-dance song in a different language. A quick Google search when I returned home turned up my answer in the first hit. It is called “Gangnam Style” by Psy, who is Korean, not European. Check it out!
