After 10 years, I finally bit the bullet and decided to upgrade my coupon organizer. I made this purchase of a Martha Stewart organizer several months ago at Staples, when I noticed the elastic on my original dollar store holder starting to lose its shape. It cost me a whopping $6.99 but the elastics are thick and seem fairly sturdy. I also like how the accordion folds allow the organizer to stretch open and stand on its own while I file. To answer those of you who’ve asked me how I sort my coupons, this organizer has 8 pockets and the aisles of the grocery store each get its own pocket and label. Since it is very rare to get a coupon for fresh fruits and vegetables, Produce does not have a pocket. The middle section of the store is merged into one category, simply titled “Grocery”.
Silly as it sounds, I had trouble making the switch to the new holder. I’ve had my Dollarama organizer for so long, shopping with it was as comfortable as wearing an old pair of jeans. Unable to part with it cold turkey, I started carrying them both to the store. Talk about confusing. Unless I had the coupons sorted out at home in advance, I couldn’t find a darned thing at the checkout.
Now that summer is here, I’m trying to return to one of my favourite pastimes: Couponing while having a cup of tea. I’ve cleaned out all the expired coupons and I’m ready to start clipping and saving again!
