I first wrote about buying diapers at Walmart in my “Price Matching” post. Remember, it was their September anniversary sale and the diapers were on sale. My co-worker had mentioned that I shouldn’t stock up on the smaller sizes because my kid was going to outgrow them soon. But, ever the cheapo, I figured that since they give you more diapers per box in the smaller sizes I was getting more for my money. I didn’t even get a chance to open the jumbo box before my son outgrew the size. I went back to the store last week to make the return and once again, I was pleasantly surprised at the fantastic service I received at Walmart. The Customer Service representative asked me if there was anything wrong with the diapers. I replied no, and handed her my receipt. When she scanned the box, her eyes widened. The current selling price was $48.97 and I had only paid $32.97. She asked me why I needed to return the box, and I told her the truth. (I left out the part about me being a cheapo though.) She then offered me an exchange for the proper size instead! When I thanked her, she said, “It’s money, you know? You have to save when you can.” I couldn’t have said it better myself.
