Cheapo’s grocery deals – week ending March 8, 2012

March 3, 2012 by Fay 2 Comments

This week, I plan to shop at Metro for the meat deals and No Frills to fill in the gaps. Due to the meat sales, my grocery bill this week will be higher than usual. However, my monthly total usually ends up being the same since I don’t purchase meat every week.

Metro

  • Stewing Beef Value Pack – $6.59/kg or $2.99/lb
  • Fresh Boneless Skinless Chicken Breast Value Pack – $8.80/kg or $3.99/lb
  • Strawberries 454g, Blackberries 170g, Blueberries 170g 3/$5
  • Black Diamond Cheese Bars 500g – $4.99 (-$1 Lactantia milk bag)
  • Astro Original yogurt tubs $2.79 (-$1 Lactantia milk bag)
  • Europe’s Best Frozen Fruit – $2.99
  • Tide Laundry Detergent 32 loads – $5.99 (-$1 from P&G Brandsaver)

No Frills

  • Armstrong or Saputo cheese bars 500 g – $4.44 ($0.00888/g)
  • Cashmere bathroom tissue 24 double rolls – $6.97 ($0.145/single roll)
  • Jamieson Vitamins – selected varieties are 50% off (-$1 more with previously ordered Websaver coupon)
  • Eggo waffles 16’s – $3.47
  • Black Diamond Cheestrings 336 g (16 pack) – $4.44 (-$1 coupon from Lactantia milk bag)
  • Danone Creamy or Source yogurt 16 x 100 g $4.49

FreshCo

If you like to bake, FreshCo has a ton of baking supplies on sale, such as eggs, flour, butter, sugar, and ingredients for making pies.

I find that most people want to hear about the same deals every week, specifically cheese, chicken, toilet paper and Tide detergent. Please leave me a comment if you want me to focus on a particular item or store and I’ll try to accommodate your request.

It’s boneless, skinless chicken breast though. Not good for making your simple soup! BTW, I can’t find that post on your blog. Can you post the link here if you get a chance?
